Orion Nebula (M42)

First prime focus image taken with the 350d. Image consists of 10 x 2sec exposures (asa 400) stacked in Iris and post processed in PhotoPaint. No flats or darks used in the processing.

Conditions at time good but with porr drift alignement Focus achieved using laptop hooked up to the camera

 

Image shows signs of trailing camera hot-pixels.

Orion

Wide field image of Orion taken with an unmodified Canon 350D and 18-55mm lens mounted on top of an LXD75 SN8. 5 x 30 sec frames (1600 ASA) taken in poor conditions (lots of light pollution, intermittent cloud and ealy evening).

 

Images processed in IRIS and enahnced in PhotoPaint. No darks, or flats used in the processing. Processing workflow based on workflow described in Jim Solomon's Astrophotography Cookbook.

 

This was my first attempt at using the 350D with the scope and (poor) focus was achieved by setting the camera lens to infinity.
